Working with Tugboat 23 / Party of a Lifetime

I take a personal approach to my work with clients.  Your organization is unique and your event or celebration should be too!  But, there are some standard ways that the process will go:

Free consultation:

Let’s get up a time to chat on the phone (or zoom) to discuss what you are looking for.  This usually takes 30-60 minutes, depending on the complexity of what is needed.

If our conversation leads us to believe this would be a fruitful partnership, I will then create a draft proposal within a set time period (usually a week).  My proposals are very specific and give a clear picture of the expected tasks, goals, and division of labor between Tugboat 23 and the client.  This level of detail helps us feel clear on our mutual expectations, and it avoids any surprises later on.  This draft proposal will have a flat fee attached to it.  From there, we can negotiate until we have a task list and a fee that is mutually agreeable.

For Party of a Lifetime, many of the service packages have set prices, but any additional services will be written up as a separate flat-fee proposal to be approved by you.

Flat fee:

I charge a flat fee for nonprofit services, usually payable in a starting payment and then additional payments on a schedule that works for both parties.  With a flat fee and my detailed task list, you’ll know exactly what you are getting from me, and exactly how much you will be paying for it!

Support local:

Local independent businesses add vibrancy and economic health to Greater Boston, and my proposals specify that event supplies will be bought from independent businesses whenever possible.  I’d rather support my neighborhood than a billionaire with a rocketship!

Cancellations and Postponements:

2020 taught us all quite a bit about how life doesn’t always go according to plan.  My proposals also include a clear cancellation policy that is tailored to your event specifics and is fair to everyone.

Follow-up for nonprofit clients:

Following our contracted work, I will create a detailed feedback report that will give suggestions for building future success.
